Breathtaking Blooms From Little Flower Hut Singapore

Product + Service Review

Flowers are one of nature's many gifts that elicit positive responses in people. Take me for example - I can be having a perfectly ordinary day but when I catch a glimpse of a cheery assortment of fresh flowers on my table, my spirit instantly lifts and brings about a discernible change in my persona.

When the good folks at Little Flower Hut Singapore  said they would be sending me an arrangement of fresh blooms for review, I gladly accepted.

As a rule, I must always have fresh flowers at home. It has become somewhat of a habit since the past few years and is something I cannot do without. I'm not particularly choosy about the kind of flowers I like to brighten up my house with but I am partial to white roses, orchids, tulips, lilies and carnations.

Communication with Little Flower Hut was a breeze, the flowers were delivered at the specified date and time and as you can see, the elegant handcrafted arrangement of pristine white roses, white hydrangeas and succulents in a glass vase was an absolute delight. The flowers came with a personalized card that actually ended up summing up my day for real 😊

Set against my natural dark wood furniture, the flowers stood out and made for a gorgeous centrepiece on the table that was admired by everyone in the family.

For today's post, I've put together some ideas and tips that you could consider when gifting flowers for special occasions. Knowing the symbolism and connotation of flower types and flower colors, can help you choose the perfect arrangement to convey just the right emotion.

Note that ALL the pictures of flowers in the below segment are taken from the Little Flower Hut website and reflect my personal choice for each given occasion.

Anniversary
You cannot go wrong with red or pink roses as these colours represent love and passion for one another.

Yellow flowers aren’t suitable for this occasion as they are more representative of friendship (keep those in mind when you want to treat your best bud on Friendship Day).

Since each anniversary is a milestone and only comes around once, there are traditional flowers that match the number of years that a couple has been together. So, if you don't want to be predictable and buy roses, you could take a 'petal' out of the below chart instead.

Birthday
If you happen to know the favourite flower of the intended birthday girl/boy, then selecting a beautiful arrangement of the specific flower is a no-brainer.

But if you don’t, you should know that each month has its own specific flower so you can let that guide your choice.

Date
Flowers on a first date may seem archaic but I'm sure there are women (and certain men) who may still appreciate the thoughtful gesture.

Orchids, tulips and dandelions are pleasant without being overwhelming so they would serve the intended purpose of making that someone feel special.

Valentine’s Day
Vivid shades of red, pink or lavender roses signify romance and adoration. It doesn’t  matter if you choose a single long-stemmed flower, a small bunch or a spectacular bouquet, roses are an indulgent Valentine’s Day gift.

If roses don't cut it for you, vibrant red tulips or chrysanthemums are a great way to communicate feelings of love as well.

New Baby
It is a safe bet to stick with the traditional colours that match the gender of the new arrival, so you can opt for blues and rich purples for a boy such as freesia, delphinium, iris, hyacinth, and statice or pinks and creams for a girl such as roses, tulips, carnations, lisianthus, and bouvardia. Fillers of baby breath would enhance the arrangement.

But if you find the stereotypic gender-based color scheme too contrived and boring you could just go for brightly colored gerbera daisies (that typically last quite long).

You could go the extra mile to include fun additions like balloons, teddy bears, baby rattles, picture frames or toys to make the arrangement stand out. Or you could just skip the flowers altogether and go for a more practical baby hamper.

Funeral
The colours blue, white and green represent peace, humility and calmness. Chrysanthemums, lilies and roses may be comforting during a period of sadness.

Avoid bright colours like orange and red which invoke energy, vitality and passion and are apt to celebrate life rather than mourning the departed.

Get Well Soon
When visiting someone at the hospital, first check if flowers are allowed to be brought into the hospital. If yes, it is recommended to not get flowers that are highly fragrant or notorious for causing allergies. Instead opt for neat and portable arrangements in vases/pots made from colourful sunflowers, daffodils, irises, tulips or gladioli. Yellow, orange and blue are invigorating shades to choose from.

If you are visiting someone who is recuperating at home, then easy to maintain house plants (like orchids) would be a good bet as they help to lift spirits and the colour green symbolises health and well-being. If you are looking at flowers specifically, Marigolds represent resilience and are a suitable choice.

Holidays/Christmas
Red poinsettia, Amaryllis and Paperwhites are popular holiday flowers as they represent good cheer and wishes of success.

In South East Asia, Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays and a creative arrangement like this would surely be appreciated by all ethnicities.

Mother’s Day
Flowers for mom are always a nice touch to make her day even more special. And you know she would love putting them on display so it would be wise to make sure your choice livens up the room.

Pink carnations represent gratitude and love, red carnations signify admiration and gerbera daisies represent cheerfulness so I’d say, put them all together for that beautiful and deserving lady in your life.

I'm Sorry
Everyone messes up at some point in their life, and one of the most heartfelt and meaningful way to apologise is with a bouquet of flowers. White symbolises peace and forgiveness, while yellow is the shade of friendship and companionship. Daffodils and daisies work well in this scenario.

Thank You
When saying thank you to someone, choose a bouquet that reflects his/her personality. If you know the flower preference of the person, that helps a lot. But otherwise, carnations, hydrangeas, lilies and daisies are good choices to express gratitude and appreciation.

So there you have it. Not only have I given you a few basic pointers about gift giving when it comes to flowers but I have also left you with an amazing resource to find exactly what you may need. Yes, now would be a good time to thank me 😛

No matter what your reason, you can put your trust on Little Flower Hut for your gifting needs and sit back while the experts take care of putting together the freshest and most gorgeous blooms for your near and dear.
